Mosaic Art Classes in Woodinville, WA
Current class schedule

I welcome you to contact me about getting a group together (2-6 people) for a class or party tailored to your needs and experience. I’m also very happy to offer private sessions.

Possible classes:

Introduction to mosaics
Make a small frame or trivet while learning the basics: types of mosaic tesserae, cutting skills, design, gluing, and grouting.

Tempered glass mosaics
Make an art panel or frame using clear tempered glass pieces over your own collage art, painting, and/or photos. Easy, non-technical, and very rewarding!

Ravenna-style mosaic frames with millefiori
Learn to incorporate these beautiful “thousand flowers” cut glass rods into vibrant geometric designs around a frame or mirror.

Garden mosaics
Learn the basics of outdoor mosaics, such as garden globes, stepping stones, decorative stones, flower pots, etc.

Ornaments
Make easy, lightweight holiday hanging ornaments in any shape you like, and then mosaic them.

Tree of Life memorial art panel
Create your own unique tree out of pre-cut stained glass pieces, decorate it with items (that you provide) significant to you or a loved one, such as photos, jewelry, pins, dog tags, etc., and then finish the background with paint and/or a paper collage under tempered glass. Two to three sessions.

Mosaic jewelry
Create your own miniature masterpiece on a pendant, ring, or bracelet. (Plenty of advance notice required to ensure adequate supplies!)

Your choice
I’m happy to consult with you and/or offer instruction on your own special mosaic project. I can help with design, cutting skills, material choices, 3D objects, working with natural materials, working on mesh, etc. I can even help you mosaic a skull – if you happen to have one. ;-)

*Most classes will require us to meet at least twice: Once to get you started (3 hours or more), and again for grouting (~2 hours). You will most likely have cutting and gluing “homework” between the two sessions.

**Be sure to contact me far enough in advance (a few weeks) that we can discuss your interests and make sure we have all the materials you will need for a fun and rewarding class!

Price Structure for custom classes
• Private class: $40/hr + materials
• 2-person class: $22/hr each + materials
• 3 or more people: $16/hr each + materials
• Open studio time: $10/hr + materials

You will generally spend $15 for your own glass nippers (unless you have your own) and adhesive, plus between $15 and $30 for your base and tesserae.

Munchies and beverages served during classes; requests welcome!

Students say:

"I was lucky I decided to take the class. It was everything what I needed... The teacher Crystal was really good prepared for the class, with patience she gave me all the answers, she encouraged me to eliminate my insecurity, she tough me all about the technique I needed for that class but also she gave lots of information for future projects. She opened mosaic word for me. She was a teacher and a guide... Step after step class, very nice vibes all the time, very helpful teacher, great workshop with all tools we needed and gorgeous tiles we could choose from. I would recommend the class to anyone who wants to start doing mosaic, who knows the basics but wants more... or for someone who wants to make a special piece." --Grazyna

"Crystal's class was a great experience. . . she's patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. Loved the format and enjoyed working side by side with others. And I created a treasured piece I'll always love." --Kathy
